Best Kodi Add-ons

What is Kodi? (or prontoTV)

Kodi is an open-source media player that can play files from local and network storage, as well as live content like TV streams and Internet radio. It’s also the name of the software.

A Kodi installation is usually referred to as a “Kodi setup.”

The easiest way to install Kodi on your device is by downloading the app for Android or iOS, or by getting a set-top box like Amazon Fire TV, NVIDIA Shield, Google Nexus Player, or WD TV. You can also use an emulator like Andy OS.

Kodi is a free and open-source media player that’s available for almost any platform. It can be used to play videos, music, podcasts, and even games.

It uses an Add-on system that makes it easy to install additional functionality like TV guides, YouTube players, weather forecast tools, and more.

The Kodi interface is completely customizable using skins. As a result, there are thousands of skins available. You can also add your own Kodi widgets.

While it’s primarily used to playback videos, there are other use cases as well. Here is an example of a home media server using Kodi. Other examples include installing it on a Raspberry Pi and creating your own entertainment system.

When you’re watching videos on Kodi, there are a few methods that you can use. The best method for watching movies or TV shows is using the official add-on system. This will provide another layer of security to protect your privacy and prevent your ISP from throttling video streams. Here’s an updated list containing information about the best Kodi add-ons.

VPN (Virtual Private Network) A VPN will encrypt your internet traffic and route it through a remote server so that you can access geo-blocked content from anywhere in the world. There are many different VPNs available for unlimited streaming, and I encourage you to use one whenever possible. Here is my list of the best VPNs for Kodi.

Usenet An alternative to torrenting is Usenet. It provides file-sharing without peer-to-peer connections, meaning that your ISP can’t throttle your speeds if you use it when streaming content on Kodi. Here’s a post explaining everything you need to know about Usenet.

The best Kodi add-ons in 2021 are as follows:

New Add-ons Worth Trying

1Channel This is one of the biggest unofficial add-ons for Kodi, and it’s back as a fork from Stream Army Repository. Content is split into sections that include movies, TV shows, documentaries, and more. It also has access to live sports via some channels.

Netflix This is the official Netflix add-on for Kodi. It’s a new release in August 2016, and it has grown to become one of the biggest unofficial video streaming repositories on the Internet today.

TVAddons This repository includes a number of TV channels from around the world. There is also an official plugin for live sports (More Sports) that can be found in a separate repository.

New Add-ons Worth Trying from Repositories Below are some add-ons from third-party repositories that have recently added new content to their libraries worth taking a look at. Covenant This is one of the most popular add-ons available today, but it was abandon by its creator last month. Since then, it has been taken over by another developer who promises to keep it updating with new content.

Genesis Reborn This add-on is a fork of Genesis but was recently abandone by its creator as well. The development team behind it decided to pick up the project and continue updating this add-on with new content.  SportsDevil This add-on contains live sports streams from around the world, including official channels from NBC Sports Network as well as MTV channels distributed by Viacom.  Bob Unleashed This is an all-in-one Kodi video solution that includes access to recent movies and TV shows via its own dedicated sections.

SportsDevil – live sports, movies, TV shows, and PPVs

Adult Swim This add-on from Adult Swim is similar to Cartoon Network in that it offers adult-oriented content. However, this one also includes a number of video games as well. There are also some live stream channels available for free when using the Kodi VPN I recommend later in this post.

Stream All The Sources (SALTS) This is one of the most comprehensive unofficial add-ons in the Kodi community today. It contains a wide selection of movies, TV shows, cartoons, anime, and documentaries spread out over different subsections.

New Add-on Worth Trying from Repositories Below are some add-ons from third-party repositories. That have recently added new content to their libraries worth taking a look at.

Exodus This is one of the most popular movie and TV show add-ons in the Kodi community today. Featuring content from 20 different sources. It was recently updating with new content. (as well as backfilling older stuff that was lost when its developer left). And now offers more than 100 official channels from TV providers around the world.

Icefilms This add-on is a fork of Filmkodi, and as such it provides access to over 15 movie channels from across the Internet. However, it does not include any live streams or TV shows that you can watch for free.  Instead, all content must be manually searching for and streamed.

Yify Movies This add-on offers search and access to a long list of movies available through various streaming video websites across the Internet. It allows you to choose which website you want to watch from, then starts playing the movie right away in Kodi. The same channels are also including in Filmkodi, so those two add-ons are similar in function.

Hardcoded This add-on is a fork of the Fusion repository that was abandon at the end of 2015, with new versions subsequently released by another member of the Kodi community months later. Unlike Fusion, this add-on contains only movies and TV shows from YouTube and does not have any live channels to watch.

Phoenix – well-known for its huge library of content and a good selection of live channels.

1Channel This add-on is include in the TV ADDONS repository, and it has been recently updating to contain more than 80 official TV channels from all across the world.

Reddit Viewer This new addition to the Dandy Media repository offers users a way to access subreddits like normal websites within Kodi. It seems to work well, with a straightforward layout that makes it easy to browse and explore various subreddits without leaving the Kodi interface.  The only thing I don’t quite like about this add-on is the fact you have to use two different sources for watching content: your standard source and then Reddit afterward.

iPlayer WWW This is another new add-on that has been adding to the Dandy Media repository, and it offers users a way to watch live TV and on-demand programs from BBC channels directly through Kodi.

Made In Canada IPTV – live channels including news, sports, and entertainment (movie add-on here)

It’s worth noting that the Kodi community has a strong stance against piracy, and none of these add-ons are endorsed or supported by the Kodi team or Foundation. Ace IPTV is Another great option for live TV streams from around the world.

SportsDevil This is probably one of the most popular add-ons for live sports streaming, and it offers a long list of links to organize the content into channels.
